Hooded nudibranch [Robin Agarwal]

Hooded nudibranch Melba leonia
Melibe leonina, commonly referred to as the hooded nudibranch, lion nudibranch, or lion's mane nudibranch, is a species of predatory nudibranch in the family Tethydidae. The hood closes to trap tiny aphids and other small crustaceans. The hood also closes to trap air, helping the nudibranch drift from place to place. Ecology files water rights adjudication in Whatcom County Superior Court
The Washington Department of Ecology filed a basin-wide general adjudication for the Nooksack river system and nearby areas with the Whatcom County Superior Court on May 1, formally beginning the adjudication process. The multimillion-dollar fight over WA's cap-and-invest program
Bolstered by an almost $5 million war chest, supporters of Washington’s cap-and-invest program have begun their efforts to keep the state’s carbon pricing system, which is facing a November recall referendum.  No On 2117 recently announced it expects its campaign dollars to grow eventually to about $11 million. The coalition hoping to repeal the state’s new cap-and-invest program, Let’s Go Washington, has raised just over $8 million so far, but most of that came as $5 million in loans from the instigator of the initiative. John Stang reports. (Cascade PBS)

First Nations activist reflects on years-long fight against Trans Mountain pipeline expansion
The taps have been turned on for the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion – a national infrastructure project that overcame fierce public opposition, construction delays and cost-overruns that pushed the final bill to more than $34 billion. Seated on rock near the beach at New Brighton Park in East Vancouver, Will George, a member of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, used the day to reflect on his years of activism against the project. Ben Miljure reports. (CTV News)
